I was, as my grandma would say, “I was so mad I could spit nails!”  I sat down across from Alice and proceeded to tell her all the things that my friend had “done” to me.  I went on and on and on…it was her fault and I was right!
Alice listened and listened and was very quiet…
After my blood pressure had topped out and I was dripping sweat from the anger pouring out…she said one thing….

This is about You!

I looked at her and now I wanted to spit nails at her!  (ok…not really…more exaggeration) but I was now mad at her for not taking my side!
She said that my friend was there to teach me something about myself…. she was a noble friend.  Really…noble friend is a stretch!

I learned a valuable lesson that day…it is about me…. My friend was showing me something I needed to work on…a lesson….she gave me the opportunity to grow and evolve.

This is one of the hardest lessons I have learned from Alice…because in the moment I still get angry…I am learning to see my part and my lesson in every uncomfortable, aggravating, annoying, frustrating, ridiculous situation.

The good thing is I never run out of practice!!

Take a minute to see your part in an argument…it is so freeing to not be angry at another or yourself!

Well the same thing happened with my company…I thought I had a great idea to share another’s wisdom through their story.  All of the sudden I see 100 story signs on the way home from the store.(another exaggeration…my husband says I do this a lot…I’m starting to see it)

I am so thankful we are moving toward connection in so many ways!!  It was a gift to see all of the “big” guys promoting “your story”.
